Awards and Achievements

Read about sustainable tourism awards

From the outset our aim was to create a high quality, successful sustainable tourism business.  Within the first year we achieved a listing with Sawdays as a Special Place to Stay. Sawdays only lists hand-picked quality independent properties, especially those creating a positive impact on the world, so we were delighted to be added to their collection.

In 2013 The Green House was awarded 4 Stars by Visit Scotland, a significant achievement after less than a year of operating. As part of our Visit Scotland 4 Star grading we are recognised as being part of the Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome Schemes based on the provision of facilities and services that we offer.

Having ensured that the house itself was a sustainable and eco friendly build it was essential to continue this theme in the day to day running of the property.  We worked hard to put systems in place that would meet with requirements of Green Tourism.  Green Tourism is the largest sustainable certification programme of its kind.  It was extremely rewarding to achieve recognition for our hard work in the form of a Gold Award in March 2014.  We were re-assessed in 2016 and retained this Gold Award.  You can read more about the sustainability of The Green House here.

We are delighted to have been picked as one of Vernon’s 100 Best. 100 BEST is a guide to the top luxury Self Catering in Scotland. This is the benchmark independent guide for interesting, comfortable, welcoming and luxurious accommodation throughout Scotland and the Scottish Isles.
