We have welcomed guests from across the UK and Europe as well as overseas from Australia, New Zealand and Canada.  Many of our guests return year after year, or sometimes they even visit a couple of times a year.  Here’s what they have to say about the Green House:

A privilege to stay in this lovely house in such a beautiful area.  The house is cosy and comfy with everything you might need and the surroundings are amazing.  L&D, Kent

Summer without a stay in The Green House has become unimaginable.  We love to return again and again, and we are most happy to enjoy our extended holidays in this peaceful house and in the Ettrick Valley.  We appreciate all your special care, thank you both!  M&S, Switzerland

Thank you for a wonderful stay and thank you for sharing the honey spinning process with us!

Thank you for a beautiful, relaxing stay.  Everything you could ever need in the house.  Delicious cake and jam.  Shall miss our early morning call from the cockerels!

Another excellent stay, weather superb for a change.  Summed up by L saying "we're home" five minutes after we arrived.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.  Such a beautiful place, the eggs & honey were incredible.

Thanks for looking after us, we've had an incredible stay.  Loved exploring the village and beyond.  Hope to be back.

We have loved being here!  What a delightful location in the Borders (such a beautiful part of Scotland).  The Green House has been easy to stay in - warm and everything thought of.  Appreciated the art work on the walls too.  It has been a calm, peaceful time with only the chickens and sheep to distract us!  Thank you.

The Green House has worked its magic once again; from the skylark singing to the bullfinch on the fruit trees this has been a wonderful week and a haven of tranquility.  Thanks for all the cake-related cafe tips in the area and for your care, it's very much appreciated.

We have had an amazing stay at The Green House.  The house was cosy and child friendly.  It was so tranquil looking out at all the animals, our two year old loved it. We will be back.

Great weekend here at The Green House.  We love this area of the country.  Very comfortable with some lovely touches, hope to be back soon!  D&B, Edinburgh

Thanks for a perfect stay, we had a completely relaxing New Year made all the better by the beautiful surroundings of The Green House and Ettrickbridge. We enjoyed some great local walks from the booklet and also thanks for the welcome gifts – helped make our stay really special! The S Family, Edinburgh

Just love this place! We must be on visit number 6 at least! A fabulous fortnight with some brilliant walking, running, cycling and fishing. Can’t praise our hosts, Verity & Mark, enough. They always make us feel so welcome and at home. Thank you both so much, the rack of lamb was just amazing! See you soon! L&N Cheshire

Best holiday accommodation we have had. The views - including the night sky - are amazing.  Perfect! The B Family, Bushey

What a fantastic house, well equipped and really clean. Brilliant welcome cake, eggs & jam! Verity & Mark very friendly. We had great days out – Alnwick Castle definitely worth a visit – and nice to come home, have dinner and watch sheep, chickens & wildlife. No hesitation in booking again & recommending to friends. Thanks for a great holiday. The M Family, Aberdeen

This is a lovely, comfortable, happy house. The new Borders Railway from Tweedbank (free parking all day) took us to Edinburgh, bus 27 to the Botanic Garden (amazing/lovely lunch) cost £1.60 each way per person from Waverley station. Melrose and Kelso are lovely towns. The countryside is so unspoilt, people considerate; we shall be back. Thanks for the delicious eggs and cake. Cheers! J&D, Cornwall

Fantastic sunny week! The Green House has everything including brilliantly equipped kitchen. Great walking & cycling including local cycle through Bowhill Estate and up over hills, St Mary’s Loch, Three Brethren Walk and Southern Upland Way. We will miss the acrobatic fly catcher, window views, sheep & lambs, birdlife and just the general peace. Beautiful plum jam, cake, eggs and flowers on arrival – great holiday!  M & S, York

A fabulous place to celebrate a birthday! First time at Melrose 7s. So love the peace and the birds here. Thank you for sharing this oasis. Restored!  The cycling has been amazing – top of the world!  Wee black lambs a definite highlight.  The M Family, Bearsden

We have all loved our 4 nights at The Green House and really enjoyed being so close to nature. Walks in the rain, watching the rabbits jumping about in the field, visiting the lambs, pigs & hens. Walked up the hill behind the house, explored the graveyard filled with snowdrops and daffodils, visited Bowhill soft play, trip to Innerleithen – great ice cream! – Cross Keys for tea, game of tennis on fantastic court, kids enjoyed local playpark, playing in the garden. We loved the scones, jam & eggs and peace and tranquillity. Wonderful place, thank you v much!  P.S. It feels like a very healthy house! Loved being eco!  The G Family, Linlithgow

"A short but lovely stay this weekend whilst attending my nephew's wedding at Aikwood Tower. We were very impressed by the attention to detail - even down to an absolutely delicious home-made cake! We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome, and for that many, many thanks. This place is top notch."

"We stayed for five nights in August. The Green House is an absolutely fantastic property and we wholeheartedly recommend a stay. It is very relaxing, very clean and well equipped."

Would love to return."

"We were really excited to visit The Green House after finding it online and it didn't disappoint! Wow! Fantastic concept that's been so beautifully designed with every detail considered. We found it incredibly homely and relaxing so much so that we don't want to leave. We will definitely be back!" May 2014

"I cannot praise The Green House highly enough- it is one of the loveliest holiday homes we have stayed in. The cake, jam, smoked salmon and wonderful eggs made for a lovely welcome. The house is very child-friendly and the toys and books were very welcome. If I were to point out everything we loved about our stay, I would need a whole book. We will be recommending The Green House to friends and we are already planning a return!"

Fruit and Vegetable Harvest

2016 has seen another good crop of both fruit and vegetables, although some have fared better than others.  The tomatoes weren’t so good, possible because we kept forgetting to water them, but the grapevines seemed to thrive on this neglect and we have a bumper...

Walking in The Ettrick Valley

The Green House is situated in some of the most beautiful countryside in Scotland and is ideal for walking. Guests are able to set off on a variety of walks right from the doorstep, from short easy routes through to more challenging hill climbs. Clearly visible from...

Chickens, Eggs & Cake

We first started keeping poultry back in 2009 with ten mixed pekin bantams. We wanted a breed that was easy to handle with a good nature and as child-friendly as possible, these girls fitted the bill perfectly. Only one small problem - their ping pong ball sized eggs....

African visitors

The first swallows arrived back in the first week of May.  It’s always such a heartening sight and sound reminding us that spring has well and truly sprung.  For the past couple of years we’ve had swallows nesting in the porch of The Green House.  Lovely you might...

Lambing Time

April is a busy month all round.  Not only do the lambs start arriving but The Green House is always full with guests taking short breaks over the Easter holidays. The weather was not kind at the start of the month which has not made for an easy lambing.  Sadly this...
